The history of Mild Fence

Mild Fence Company is located in the heart of the Northern Rockies in Kalispell, Montana. The company was started in 1972 by Gary and Cindy Mild. The fence company was purchased in 1977 by Dennis Wutke. Dennis kept the name Mild Fence because of the outstanding reputation for quality chainlink fence installation that the company had built up. From a small building on Whitefish Stage Road in Kalispell, Montana. Dennis continued to build on the reputation of Mild Fence.

In the beginning the focus was on chainlink fencing. Commonly known by the trade name "cyclone fencing", chainlink is some of the most affordable yet durable fence available. Dennis sold Mild Fence to his son Eric in 1997. The business then moved to a new 5 acre location on Highway 93 North conveniently located between Kalispell, Whitefish and Columbia Falls. The company is currently still at this location although more land has been purchased and the total acreage is now over 10 acres.

Although chain link fencing continued to be the main of focus of Mild Fence, other types of fence also became part of the mix. Vinyl fence has become very popular. Vinyl fencing is durable and maintenance free. Mild Fence purchased a computer operated vinyl fence router to custom make all types of vinyl fences. Growth was so strong that soon after another computer operated vinyl fence router was added.

Wood privacy fence has always been an economical choice for many consumers. Mild Fence Company sells and installs cedar privacy fencing. Many consumers prefer the economy of wood posts. However wood posts will rot out over time. Steel posts will make a wood privacy fence last longer. But a galvanized steel post can detract from the look of a wood fence. Mild Fence sells and installs the VersaPost:. The VersaPost is the steel post for wood privacy fences that can be made to look like wood. And, it is more economical and easier to install than other steel posts.

Mild Fence Company is not limited to chain link, vinly and wood fencing. Mild Fence also sells and installs farm fence. They sell and install barb wire, smooth wire, wood posts, tee-posts, field fence and more. Mild Fence is also the only distributor for Ameristar ornamental iron fence in Kalispell, Whitefish, Columbia Falls and Polson. In fact, Mild Fence distributes Ameristar fence products throughout Montana and Idaho.

Fence products are not the only thing that Mild Fence Company sells and installs. The company is now one of the largest decking retailers in northwest Montana. They offer both Evergrain composite decking as well as wood decking. Mild Fence is also the sole distributor of the Aphano Hidden Deck Fastener. Aphano fasteners are the only hidden deck fasteners made exclusively for composite decking. They allow the decking to expand and contract with temperature changes. A deck built with Aphano concealed deck fasteners looks much better than one built with screws. And, there is no water penetration that will harm the decking. Mild Fence also fabricates custom vinyl porch rail and iron deck railing.

Mild Fence continues to grow

Starting with one employee, Mild Fence Company has grown to be the largest fence contractor in the state of Montana and is one of the largest in the Pacific Northwest. They currently employ 35 people, occupy 10 acres of land and have annual sales of over $6,000,000. Mild Fence is a wholesaler and retailer of fence products across the west.
